- Apparently a good site, in three languages, which gives a lot of information on administration of elections (legislative framework, ridings, voting operations, voter education, etc.)
IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems)
- "IFES supplies expert technical assistance to promote democracy and is one of the world's leading centers of election information and resources, rule of law, good governance and civil society."
IDEA (International Institute for Electoral Assistance)
- Apparently, nothing is available on-line (you have to buy paper copies).
- "IDEA, an intergovernmental organization with member states across all continents, seeks to support sustainable democracy in both new and long-established democracies. IDEA draws on comparative experience, analyses democracy trends and assistance, and develops policy options, tools and guidelines relating to: political participation, electoral systems, political parties, etc."
- Apparently, mostly a "marketing operation" of the Federal government to give the appearance of promoting democracy in the world.
- "Rights & Democracy is a non-partisan organization with an international mandate. It was created by Canada's Parliament in 1988 to encourage and support the universal values of human rights and the promotion of democratic institutions and practices around the world."
COGEL (Council On Governmental Ethics Laws)
- Apparently, you have to be rich and English-speaking to be part of this club.
- "The Council on Governmental Ethics Laws (COGEL) is a professional organization for government agencies, organizations, and individuals with responsibilities or interests in governmental ethics, elections, campaign finance, lobby laws and freedom of information."
Stockholm International Peace Research Institute
- To know how much money mankind wasts on weapons every year.
- They try to fight corruption. Also, they produce the "Corruption Perceptions Index", ranking all countries.
- A source of information on what's going on in the Canadian Parliament.
